The Federal Centre for Animal Health is the veterinary research and testing institution in Russia. The Centre manufactures veterinary medicinal products for animal disease and provides specific diagnosis and prevention for 65 years. The FGBI “ARRIAH” is involved in control and surveillance activities in veterinary field being subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor since 2004.
Currently, the FGBI-ARRIAH is also actively engaged in training and educational programs.
The World Organization for Animal Health (the WOAH) has granted the FGBI-ARRIAH three international statuses:
- WOAH Regional Reference Laboratory for FMD (1995);
- WOAH Collaborating Centre for Diagnosis and Control of Viral Animal Diseases for Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Transcaucasia (1997); and
- WOAH Regional Reference Laboratory for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza and Low Pathogenic Avian Influenza (Poultry) and Newcastle Disease (2018).
In addition the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has granted the FGBI-ARRIAH the statuses of FAO Reference Centre for Foot-and-Mouth Disease for Central Asia and Western Eurasia (2013) and FAO Reference Centre for Zoonotic Coronaviruses (2022).
Training course:
The advanced training course FGBI-ARRIAH of Rosselkhoznadzor is focused on preventing and controlling transboundary animal diseases, including emerging diseases and zoonotic agents that pose a threat to animal and human health. The online training programme is spread over 5 days (18 hours).
Course registration:
The interested applicants should contact the course organisers for arranging their participation.
