The Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) is a multi-stakeholder partnership engaged to accelerate the implementation of the International Health Regulations (IHR). The critical focus is improving national and regional capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats from natural, accidental, and intentional origins. GHSA is a partnership of close to 70 countries working together to strengthen health systems and build health security capacity. GHSA seeks to incorporate the work of non-governmental entities, foundations, and the private sector in order to build a whole-of-society approach to health security.
The United States GHSA Partner Countries selected to receive intensive support for FY 2020 include the 17 formerly Phase 1 countries plus 2 additional countries: Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam.
The U.S. is working with these 19 partner countries in an intensive fashion, as well as with others to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats at their source.
