The Fellowship is hosted and co-funded by the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) under its Arturo Falaschi Fellowship Programme. Fellows conduct research that strengthens global health security while advancing sustainable development. Their projects span a wide range of areas, including human pathogenic viruses, malaria, autoimmune and genetic diseases, and pandemic preparedness, as well as innovative applications of bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, genomics, and biotechnology for health and agriculture. Collectively, these efforts generate knowledge and innovation that enhance resilience against both natural and deliberate biological risks.
In 2025, ten fellows received sponsorship through the voluntary contribution provided by Norad. An additional ten fellows will be selected and supported in 2026 through the voluntary contributions from Norway.
