Background
The International Workshop on Biosafety Laboratory Management and Techniques hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and organized by Wuhan Institute of Virology, CAS has been held annually since 2017, and totally over 600 participants from about 40 countries had been enrolled. The workshop is developed for biosafety capacity building and enhancement of international cooperation in the field of prevention and control of infectious diseases among the participating countries. The workshop is designed for laboratory managers and directors, research and laboratory staff who are carrying out or planning to conduct infectious disease research in biosafety facilities from the developing countries, and aims to provide training about the biosafety laboratory management and techniques.
Objectives
- Discuss current status on international biosafety
- Understand key components (risk recognition, risk assessment and risk mitigation) of biorisk management system for biosafety laboratories
- Know basic design and operations of biosafety laboratories
